Kai’s Paper Published in Nature’s Scientific Reports and Featured in LA Times

Congratulations to Kai whose new paper titled “Wildfire plumes in the Western US are reaching greater heights and injecting more aerosols aloft as wildfire activity intensifies” was accepted for publication in Nature’s Scientific Reports. In this paper, a novel, decadal-scale plume rise climatology demonstrates that wildfire plumes in the Western US are reaching higher altitudes and contributing to both increased aerosol loading aloft and increased near-surface smoke injections.

In addition to the publication, Kai was recently interviewed by the LA Times and featured in an article discussing the McKinney fire in California. The fire is currently reaching stratospheric heights and has burned 51,000 acres. Take a look at the LA Times article to read more about Kai’s research and the McKinney fire.
