Congratulations to Kai whose new paper titled “Wildfire plumes in the Western US are reaching greater heights and injecting more aerosols aloft as wildfire activity intensifies” was accepted for publication in Nature’s Scientific Reports. In this paper, a novel, decadal-scale plume rise climatology demonstrates that wildfire plumes in the Western US are reaching higher altitudes and contributing to both increased aerosol loading aloft and increased near-surface smoke injections.
In addition to the publication, Kai was recently interviewed by the LA Times and featured in an article discussing the McKinney fire in California.
